Full-calf 12mo with gilt lettering to spine, 417 pp, with four engraved plates and copious rococco devices throughout, marbled paste-downs, extremities worn, boards front and back rubbed, spine rubbed with small tear to top left corner, front joint starting, hinges sound, signatures tight, slightly foxed throughout, o/w very good.
Volume III of larger set, containing:
  • All's Well That Ends Well;
  • Twefth-Night;
  • The Comedy of Errors;
  • The Winter_Night's Tale;
  • The Life and Death of King John.
This edition of Shakespeare, first published by Lintott, et al., in 1709, consisted of six volumes.
 
Bernard Lintott was a prolific publisher during the early years of the 18th century. He produced the first copies of Pope's, "The Rape Of The Lock", in 1711 and Pope's translation of "The Iliad Of Homer", between 1715 and 1720. Lintott also published many contemporary plays, works of fiction and literary criticism.
